Scleral Contact Lenses
A scleral lens is a large contact lens that rests on the scleral (white of the eye) and creates a tear-filled vault over the cornea. Scleral lenses are designed to treat a variety of eye conditions such as severe dry eye, Keratoconus, and post surgical irregularities.
Keratoconus
Keratoconus is a progressive eye disease in which the round cornea thins and begins to bulge into a cone-like shape. This cone shape deflects light as it enters the eye, causing distorted vision. In early to mild stages, glasses and soft contact lenses can correct your sight. If Keratoconus progresses, specialty soft contact lenses, SynergEyes hybrid lenses or Scleral contact lenses would be recommended.
